This 200-hour Teacher Training takes you on a great journey of exploration into the world of yoga, focusing on how to intimately join yogic philosophy and asana practice to successfully navigate life – on and off the mat.
Besides getting into your best mental and physical shape, in this training you will:

- Explore basic concepts of acupuncture, herbology, nutrition, Tai Chi, and more
We delve into ancient philosophical concepts from the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita and the Ashtavakra Gita, as well as wisdom teachings from Tibetan Buddhism and Tibetan Heart Yoga. Each of these beautiful texts and traditions helps us deepen our understanding of ourselves and how we engage in our world, to become better teachers and human beings. Throughout this 200-hour training, participants will establish a strong foundation in spiritual philosophy and wisdom.
This training even incorporates elements of acupuncture, herbology, nutrition, Tai Chi and Qi Gong, Tui Na and massage, as well as Hatha, Ashtanga, Anusara and other surprises to make it truly unique!
Spiritual and philosophical teachings are joined by asana, pranayama, and meditation study and practice. Familiar asana poses and sequences are expanded upon, as we begin to understand the patterns of prana that are created by various body movements and breathing practices. We explore pose variations, safe alignment, and pose- and body-specific assisting and adjusting. Alignment is considered holistically, as well as how to sequence to safely get into poses and their more advanced variations, and transitioning between poses.
Functional anatomy is highly emphasized, so teachers will leave with a working command of how the body moves. Daily practice-teaching opportunities with ample time for supportive feedback will build confidence and strengthen your teaching skills. Teachers will further leave the training with a greater understanding of meditation techniques and how to facilitate guided meditation.
About Your Teacher
Scott is the founder of Diamond Heart Yoga School. He is our current yoga instructor-in-residence. He has been teaching yoga and running yoga retreats at Treecasa for the past 10 months. Born and raised in California, he earned master degrees in traditional chinese medicine and tibetan Buddhism.
Doing yoga for nearly 40 years and teaching for 20+ years, he offers 200, 300, and 500 hour yoga teacher-trainings that are yoga alliance certified. He also offers 1 week intensive 100-hour certification for instructors looking to refresh or advance their skills.
Scott studied Tibetan Heart yoga in Arizona and Mexico, a style of yoga that was traditionally taught in a monastic setting behind closed doors. Fears of it dying out has recently prompted its Tibetan masters to open their doors. As such, Scott incorporates this unique and ancient style of yoga in his practice and teacher-trainings.
